Wet Macula Degeneration

Sunday, February 12, 2012

I am a patient of Dr Tollentino in Winter Haven. I was receiving lucentis injections each month and it accelerated the loss of my eyesight. I have no central vision in either eye. I have good periferal vision and color so I am grateful for that. However, it has changed my life and I obviously get depressed when I see how other people can recognise everything in the distance, and I cannot even recognise my friends face or family unless they wave to me from 50 feet. I am desperate to get stem cell therapy when it is available and would like to know how soon that might be. I know the UK is very advanced with their trials and that other countries who don't have the strict FDA conditions are also way ahead of the US. Can you recommend anywhere that I might go that will give me Embryonic Stem Cells to hopefully regain my eyesight please.Thank youDyllis Wells

pradaxa or coumadin

Monday, February 06, 2012

My 84 year old dad has wet macular and limited vision. He was just put on pradaxa 300mg per day. One of the side effects listed is bleeding. We surely do not want his limited vision to be compromised. Would coumadin be a better choice for him?

Other kinds of Macular Degeneration

Monday, January 23, 2012

I am a 60-year old male and have had some MD for well over a decade now. My doctors aren't sure what caused it (mini-strokes being the best explanation) and cannot give me any prognosis regarding my susceptibility to Age-related MD.Can you offer any suggestions or insights to help me preserve my vision? Is my condition as rare as it seems to me?Thanks for any help you can offer.

Could you provide information on the above noted supplement, and if/what clinical trials, etc. were conducted to determine it's role in treatment of AMD. Thank you

Wet Macular Degeneration

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

I have been diagnosed with wet Macular Degeneration in one eye. I am having Lucetin injections, and am having side effects. The side effects include flu like symptoms with congestion. This occurs 10-15 days after each injection, and continues through until it's close to the time for another injection. Basically, I'm sick for the entire month.I would like to know more about other treatment plans, and side effects. Can you tell me about Photodynamic Therapy used for AMD? I would also like to know how doctors know it is age related, other than the fact that a person is over 50?
